Meet Shannon Hanrahan, LSW

About Me

I am a compassionate and client-centered therapist, with experience working with kids, teens, and young adults, alongside their families, facing a range of mental health and co-occurring substance use challenges. Whether in individual, family, or group therapy sessions, I focus on building trust, fostering resilience, and empowering clients on their path to healing.

What is Your Therapeutic Approach?

I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate depression, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma. My approach combines Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family Systems Theory, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness to create comprehensive and personalized care plans tailored to each client's needs. My goal is to assist clients in developing healthy boundaries, emotional regulation skills, and self-care habits, empowering them to make meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives. I value creating a collaborative, supportive space where clients feel empowered to explore challenges, build insight, and develop tools for lasting change.

Who I Work With

I work with kids, teens, and young adults, alongside their family, struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioral challenges, and trauma. Additionally, I have experience supporting clients with dual diagnoses and complex family dynamics.

I am really passionate about working alongside my clients and their families to build healthier communication patterns and emotional resilience to aid them in facing life's challenges.

A Few Fun Facts

My perfect day: Pretty much any time of the year, my perfect day includes taking the dog to the beach, having a good matcha latte, and then spending time with my loved ones.

Favorite local spot: My two favorite local spots are the beach and Batch in Manasquan. Ideally enjoying a Batch matcha latte on the beach.

If I could have dinner with anyone: I would love to have dinner with the Obamas or Taylor Swift. They’re fascinating people who have accomplished so much. I’d love to hear about their experiences and learn some of the strategies they’ve used to navigate success, challenges, and change.

What I Love Most About Being a Therapist: There is something incredibly meaningful about being trusted with someone’s good days, hard days, and everything in between, and having the opportunity to walk alongside them as they uncover their own strength and resilience.
